Join us for a special Capoeira Angola series led by Mestre Kojo Johnson, returning to St. Croix to share this dynamic Afro-Brazilian martial art rooted in movement, music, and resistance. These classes are presented in collaboration with the exhibition Espíritu Africano by St. Croix artist Mark “Feijão” Milligan, whose work explores African spiritual and cultural legacies across the diaspora.

Capoeira Angola is an art form of movement and music grounded in African traditions and shaped by the struggle for freedom. Played in a circle known as the roda, it combines acrobatics, rhythm, song, and dialogue between two players in a game-like interaction that builds community, strength, and self-awareness.

Participants will explore Capoeira’s history, philosophy, music, and movement—gaining insight into its role as a tool for youth development, healing, and cultural preservation.
