Get ready to get your hands muddy and your imagination fired up! In this fun and creative 3-Saturday clay workshop series, participants will explore the world of ceramics while learning the foundational skills of hand-building, sculpting, and glazing. No prior experience is needed.
What to Expect Each Week:
Week 1: Shape & Build
Participants will begin by learning the basics of working with clay—how to shape, pinch, coil, and connect pieces together securely. They’ll start designing and sculpting their very own imaginative creature or monster.
Week 2: Refine & Reimagine
Building on the techniques learned in Week 1, participants will create a second, more detailed monster—possibly a functional piece like a monster mug! They’ll explore ways to improve their designs and add creative features.
Week 3: Glaze & Finish
Time to add color and personality! Participants will learn how to apply glaze to their bisque-fired pieces. We’ll explore glazing techniques, color choices, and how the final kiln firing transforms their creations into glossy, finished artworks.
By the end of the workshop, each participant will have at least two original clay pieces to take home—along with new skills, confidence, and a whole lot of creative pride.
Instructor: Donna Prock
Donna has been involved in art since she was young starting with simple crafts. She enjoys working with all types of media to include paper, acrylic painting, resin, and other items to create pieces. Art has become her meditation; a world separate from the everyday as she focuses on bringing her visions to form.
